UNI alum Mary Braun named new State Relations Officer

UNI Family,

I'm excited to share with you that the Board of Regents has appointed Mary Braun (pronounced Brown) as UNI's new State Relations Officer. She will begin her duties Monday, Dec. 8.

Mary is a UNI graduate with vast legislative experience and knowledge having served on the Iowa House Democratic Caucus staff for 25 years. She has also worked closely with members of both parties to develop and evaluate public policy, write and analyze bills and amendments, and track legislation. Mary's skills will serve her well as she fosters open communication between the Board of Regents, state elected officials and the UNI campus community.

“Mary is well respected at the statehouse and has a positive working relationship with many legislators of both parties, which will really allow her to hit the ground running for UNI," said Jeneane Beck, UNI's current state relations officer.  "I’m so pleased she has accepted the position.”

It was announced in October that Jeneane accepted the position of senior director for News Media Relations at the University of Iowa. Her last day at UNI is Dec. 30.

We're extremely excited to have Mary serve her alma mater.

Purple for Life!
