A Salute to Veterans on Veterans Day
UNI Family,
Today marks our nation's annual observance of Veterans Day a time for honoring all who have served our country in the military and for recognizing their sacrifices.
We are excited to celebrate and pay tribute to these servicemen and servicewomen with events planned at UNI throughout the week.
Full-size American flags are displayed throughout and near campus to show support for our veterans.
The second annual Veterans Day Ball begins this evening at 6 p.m. in the Commons Ballroom.
UNI's Military and Veteran Student Services Center will host an open house from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m., Wednesday, Nov. 12.
Actor Stephen Lang will perform his one-man play "Beyond Glory" at 7:30 p.m., Thursday, Nov. 13, at the Gallagher Bluedorn Performing Arts Center.
I not only encourage everyone to thank our veterans and consider participating in many of the opportunities we have on campus this week, but I also invite each and every one of you to personally thank at least one veteran a family member, a student, another UNI employee or alumni, or just someone you know or happen to run into. You could do it with a letter, a cup of coffee or even a simple thank you! For a complete list of Veterans Week events, visit the Military and Veteran Student Services website and click on the Veterans Week Agenda link.
To the students, faculty and staff who served and are currently serving in all branches of the service thank you! We appreciate your bravery and commitment.
Happy Veterans Day!
Purple for Life!
