Notice of the death of Kyle Raarup
Dear University Family,
It is with great sadness that we share with you the loss of a member of the UNI family. Kyle Raarup, a sophomore from Wyoming, Minnesota, died today.
Kyle majored in marketing and was actively involved in Dancer Hall where he worked as a desk assistant and served as the Senate Treasurer. He was planning to study abroad in Australia.
A vigil will be held this evening at 7 pm at the Campanile.
To students who may need some extra support in dealing with this tragic event, on-campus resources are available to help. The UNI Counseling Center has counselors available in person from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m., Monday through Friday. Please remember that after-hours services are also available by calling 319-273-2676 and selecting option 2 at the prompt. I strongly encourage you to make use of these services during this time of mourning.
There is no way to prepare for the loss of a friend or loved one. I ask that we support one another during this time, and remember to cherish our friends and family every day.
I am sorry that I was unable to notify you sooner, but it was essential that we communicate with Kyles family prior to sharing with the university community.
Please keep Kyle's loved ones in your thoughts as they move through this difficult time. Details relative to memorial services will be sent as soon as they are known.
President Bill Ruud
