Notice about Elena Curris
Dear UNI Family,
It is with great sadness that we share with you the loss of a member of the UNI family: Elena Curris, daughter of Constantine (Deno) and Jo Curris. Deno was UNIs seventh president. He served from 1983 through 1995.
Elena was the director of Community Projects and Marketing at California State University, Long Beach. She was also very engaged in campus and community organizations. Elena enjoyed collegiate sports, musical concerts and skiing, and had traveled throughout the United States, Western Europe and Kenya.
Funeral services will be conducted at 11 a.m., Monday, January 11, at Assumption Greek Orthodox Church, 5751 E. Colorado Street, Long Beach, CA. An additional service will be at 11 a.m., Thursday, January 14, at the Episcopal Church of the Good Shepherd, 533 E. Main Street, Lexington, KY. In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations in memory of Elena be made to support the research of Steven D. Schwartz, M.D., Stein Eye Institute, 200 Stein Plaza, UCLA, Los Angeles, CA; the CSULB Foundation to support the Veterans Center at CSULB; the Curris Arts Fund at UNI; or to a charity of your choice.
