No censure from the AAUP

Dear UNI Family,

I am pleased to share with you that the American Association of University Professors (AAUP) Committee A on Academic Freedom and Tenure has closed its file on the investigation of the University of Northern Iowa. AAUP will not censure UNI.

As you know, UNI came under scrutiny by AAUP in 2012. However, Committee A confirmed that university administration has continued to work with faculty leaders to restore good relations and shared governance. AAUP stated the university has remedied problems previously identified.

I want to thank all faculty, staff and student leaders who have worked tirelessly this year to remedy this situation. This was a collaborative and inclusive effort that could not have been accomplished without your support. I am excited to begin year two and work with you on increasing enrollment, implementing the TIER review recommendations and acting on the new performance-based revenue model. Again, thank you for your continued good work as we move forward in FY15.
