Elective surgery notification

Dear UNI family,

Earlier today I underwent successful, elective, non-emergency surgery to correct a condition that was discovered during a recent physical. The procedure went flawlessly and the doctors have told me that I will be better than before!

Following surgery, my schedule will be modified and I will not return to work until my physician indicates I am sufficiently recovered. This will probably be three to four weeks.

To ensure continuity of operations, as per policy, UNI Interim Provost Mike Licari will assume responsibilities as acting UNI president effective with the date of my surgery and continuing until I resume normal duties.

As I have learned, annual physicals are an absolutely essential component of an individual’s overall health strategy. I encourage everyone to see their physician regularly as we continue moving towards a healthy UNI campus.
